Well, I have to say that, even if it is the 13th January, as this is my first post of the year. So, I hope you’ve all had a fantastic festive season, and are bouncing into the snow bound murk that is the beginning of 2010 with much joyful positivity going on.
For me, the year’s already been hectic. We spent Christmas with Random Jane‘s folks (which was rather lovely), before a heavily rock’n’roll New Year in the company of BeverleyHillsJambo and his lovely missus Tara, grooving to the heavy divinity that is… Lemmy! Who was playing the Viper Club as part of the Head Cat. Utterly ferocious, and the best possible way to bring in a new decade.
And how to follow that? Well, there’s only one way, as next week sees the return of Write Club. We’ll be meeting at the Yorkshire Grey on Langham Street at 7.30pm, on Thursday 21st January. Last time, we had everyone from science fiction writers to travel journalists – this time round, we should have an equally stimulating, and equally varied, group of word obsessives.
So if you’re involved with any kind of writing, in any kind of way, come along and say hi! You’ll spot us by a) the really interesting conversation and b) the copy of Ezra Pound’s ‘Collected Poems’ that’ll be obviously displayed, honouring the fact that he used to live just over the road. And if you can’t make it – well, the next one’s going to be on 18th February, so keep the date clear and we’ll hopefully see you then!
New Year was excellent fun Al. Loved when it got to midnight. Lemmy whispered “Happy new year every one,” then went straight into the next song.
